We are very excited to be launching a new mid week Dinner Church in 2017 that will meet at the Magnuson Community Center. A Dinner Church is not a feeding program or an outreach; A Dinner Church is modeled after the Agape Feasts of the first century. In fact, Dinner Churches were the way the followers of Christ functioned for the first 200 years of Christian history, especially in the large cities of the Pax Romana.
We believe that every community needs a time and place to come together. This is especially true during challenging days. What better way to do this than with warm food around tables in friendship, laughter and connectedness. Each week we will invite our neighbors to our table, of all ages, ethnicities, and lifestyles. This is a chance to gather in community with the rich mosaic-like diversity that the Magnuson community has and that Seattle is known for.
We have two designs for this community dinner. First, we want to build friendships over a table with warm food and laughter. Second, we take time to encourage the soul by retelling a short story about Christ and offering prayer for those who want to stay.
