IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 - UPDATED 03.13.20

We hope you are well in the midst of all that has been going on in our city.  We are emailing you to give you an update on adjustments & decisions about all things OneLife as we approach Sunday 03/15/20.  All these decisions & adjustments have been done under much prayer & discernment informed by the CDC, King County Health, our Governor, as well as dialog with other local churches, our northwest ministry network & national denominational leadership.

Being that we are in the epicenter of the Covid-19 outbreak in our country we need to step up & be an example of how to respond in all of this.  In doing so, we must not panic, we must not respond in fear, but we must respond with wisdom, leadership, & sacrifice while holding firmly to our hope & trust in Jesus.  We do not want to treat this situation lightly, nor do we want to ignore the vulnerable in our community by focusing on those who are well.

That said, as we have looked closely at the recommendations by of CDC & our King County Health officials on how to lower the curve of impact this virus is having on our city, we have made the executive decision to close our building this Sunday & go 100% online through our LIVE FEED.  We understand that this is a sacrifice that will come with mixed opinions but we believe strongly that the church is not a building but a people.  We strongly believe that the people of OneLife can handle this & actually enter this season with great purpose.

The staff is working very hard to create a number of ways for community connections, care, support, spiritual growth, & outward focused ministry to continue during this time.

For a complete list of all the details please continue reading.

STARTING MARCH 15TH...

NOTE:  These could change as new details/recommendations are released each day.  We will continue to update you each week on this.  We appreciate your prayers & your understanding during this time.

    SUNDAY & MIDWEEK ONLINE OFFERINGS…

    • SUNDAY LIVE ONLINE SERVICE - Starting on Sunday 03/15/20 our building will be closed & we will be moving to an online only Sunday service starting at 10am.  It will include our normal worship time, announcements, & adult teaching time.  It will also include age specific teachings for all of our KidsLife children & Mix Youth Ministry students.  To access all of the online resources CLICK HERE.
    • SUNDAY LIVE ONLINE PRAYER LINK – On Sunday we will have a prayer link on our website that you can use to share any prayer requests you may have.  These will then go directly to our prayer team.  By including your email or phone number one of our prayer team members will then be able to contact you in the order in which your prayer request was received.  Note:  We will have this prayer link available throughout the week.  To submit a prayer request CLICK HERE.
    • MIDWEEK ONLINE SERVICES – All midweek meetings at the church including rentals have been cancelled.  Starting 03/18/20 we will be creating midweek online learning opportunities that are age specific for KidsLife, Youth, & Adults.  These will include various things like video clips, questions for reflections, articles, activity pages, etc.  To access all of the online resources CLICK HERE.
    • DINNER CHURCH – We will continue to run our Monday night Magnuson Park Community Dinner from 5-6:30pm.  We feel strongly that we must continue our commitment to creating connections, care, & food assistance for those in need.  For more information about this & for ways to help please contact Ben Hurst.
    • ONLINE GIVING - Please be reminded that though we may not be able to meet together in the same way, our expenses do not change drastically.  We will be doing our best to steward our building, lower utility costs, etc.  But we will also be missing out of our rental income.  At OneLife, we believe that the regular giving of tithes & offerings is an important discipline of the Christian faith. The funds from offerings are used for the day to day operations of OneLife, as well as the funding of local & global outreaches, individual benevolence, and many other vital parts of the church.  Thank you for your faithful & consistent giving to support our mission and vision as a church during this time.  To give online CLICK HERE

    STAY CONNECTED…

    • NEIGHBORHOOD CARE GROUPS - We have identified 9 NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS throughout our city that have clusters of OneLifer’s in them in various parts of the city.  These groups have been given at least one point person who will then proactively help each particular zone stay connected for prayer, community, & support during this time.  The Neighborhood Care Groups are not going to be gathering at the same geographical space. Instead, there will be emails, texts, video conferencing, & check-ins to make sure that everyone is flourishing, & able to have relational connections, share needs, pray together, & be the body of Christ together. You can expect to get an email or phone call from one of the point people in your neighborhood within the next few days.  Stay tuned for more details to come, but if you are interested in being involved with the leadership of one of these groups please contact Greg Di Loreto.
    • SOCIAL MEDIA – OneLife has both a Facebook & Instagram accounts as well as our website that are all great tools for staying informed & connected.  Not only will they provide you with up to date information about all things OneLife they are also tools you can use to communicate any needs or prayer requests you might have.

     REACHING OUTWARD…

    • LOVING YOUR NEIGHBOR - During times like this, it’s important that we hold firmly to the hope of Jesus & that we take our faith seriously in the way we live our day to day life.  With that, we want to encourage everyone to be thinking creatively about how we can care for & serve others in our community.  This may be single parent families, the elderly, people needing to work from home, or those who are in quarantine.  This may be in offering childcare, going shopping for the vulnerable, coming up with jobs you can pay people who are struggling financially like yard work.  Maybe it’s in making a meal for someone, calling to check on people, praying for someone, sending a note, etc.  Remember we are called to be ambassadors of Christ & in times like this we have a unique opportunity to show the love of Christ in how we serve & care for others.  We are praying for you as you seek to be share the love of Christ with those around you!

OTHER ONELIFE ACTIVITIES…

As a way of being cautious, we have also made adjustments to other events, activities, midweek programs, & rentals.  We have postponed the Celebration of Life service for Janet Alfieri, the All Church Meeting & All Church Work Day planned for Sunday March 29th & the KidsLife Training planned for Sunday March 22nd.  The Mix Youth Cooperative Midweek Program & OneLife Tutoring are also cancelled following the same protocol as Seattle Public Schools.  The Magnuson Park Community Dinner will continue to provide meals to those in need, but will be adjusting the ways they do so.  Our building is closed to our rentals as well.

POSSIBLE LONG TERM…

We are thinking in advance about possible changes to our Holy Week services & our 3 Easter services.  Thankfully we have time.  We will update you if any adjustments are needed.

THANK YOU…

We want you to know how thankful we are for you.  We are thankful for your willingness to engage these adjustments with understanding & grace.   We care about you & hope these adjustments are tangible ways we can show this in action.

PRAYER…

Please continue to keep our city & our country in your prayers.  Pray for those infected in our community, those that have lost loved ones as a result, & pray that a cure/vaccine can be made quickly & be readily available to all.   We are praying that in the midst of this we would all know the grace & peace of Christ with us & for us & that we would be ambassadors of Christ to all in our relational spheres.
