God calls Moses to return to Egypt and lead God’s people, the Israelites, out of bondage. After Moses demands that Pharaoh set his people free to no avail, God unleashes a series of plagues that attack the very heart and soul of Egypt. Despite each plague’s pervasiveness, God hardens Pharaoh’s heart, and the attacks on the Egyptians continue unabated. The stalemate is broken only when God sends a final plague that kills every firstborn in Egypt.
